What is Glitterjaw?
We’re a collective featuring queer creators who are producing independent, audio-centered podcasts about media!
Glitterjaw shows center analysis of specific pieces of media—from tours through film series, to TV episode deep dives, to book clubs, video game history, and more.
All of our shows include at least one host with a queer lived experience, and enjoy analyzing media through a queer lens. We provide space for conversations about social justice and advocacy for marginalized peoples. And we offer support for developing new podcasts and bringing more queer voices into the media analysis landscape.
And, of course, we love podcasting!

Who We Are
Cass Proffitt (they/them)
Show: Distant Echoes: A Star Wars Podcast
Cass is happy to have a podcast where they can have meaningful, impassioned - and very much also off the rails - conversations with their favoritest person in the world. While Star Wars is a constant in their universe of loves, current hyperfixations they are on (their words) also include: style refreshing their house with color and new art, inundating themselves with D&D (with friends, with DropoutTV, with Nadpodd), learning how to keep bees, and mining all the shiny rocks in Starfield. Cass is just proud to be a facet of this beautiful little community of brilliant minds and lovely, friendly people.
Chels Eichholz (she/her)
Show: The Q Division
Spiritual Looney Tune and Queer Auntie to all. An academic in a past life, she's currently an editor, podcaster, and filmmaker who loves to talk about all TV and film history and how it's all super queer. In her free time, she consumes too many classic sitcoms, reality competitions, and soap operas and is always looking for a new tattoo. Audrey Hepburn and Snoopy enthusiast. Chessy Sun | Elizabeth Moon | Meredith Rising.

David Arnold (he/him)
Shows: Are You My Mother? – Gimmicks – Fear Coded
David recently left his full-time job of 20 years as a counselor and non-profit professional to focus on learning game design and hobbyist podcasting. David believes that both the mundane or the avant-garde give us the opportunity to explore what it means to be queer and see queerness around us, ultimately making the places and spaces we live, work, learn, and play safer and healthier for the most vulnerable. He married his husband Mike in 2009 and they live together in Valencia, Spain.
Derek B. Gayle (he/him)
Shows: Walloping Websnappers – Gimmicks – Skreeonk – Falling With Style – Lee Carvallo’s Podding Challenge
Derek B. Gayle is a professional writer and has a background performing in live theatre. As a kid, he spent much of his free time designing the seasonal schedule for his own imaginary TV network, which explains a lot. When he’s not podcasting, Derek keeps busy by exploring the woods in search of werewolves, playing D&D, digitizing old VHS tapes, watching tokusatsu, looking at pictures of Godzilla and Garfield, and cuddling with his cats.
Doug Fink (he/they)
Shows: Walloping Websnappers – Novel Gaming – Falling With Style – Skreeonk
When Doug was growing up, all he thought about was Power Rangers, Spider-Man, Pokémon, Pixar, and Survivor. Decades later, he’s thinking about all the same stuff, but with a degree in English Literature now he thinks about them critically. Outside of podcasting, he spends most of his time watching competitive reality TV and dreaming of being stranded on an island with seventeen strangers.
Gavin Mevius (he/him)
Shows: The Mixed Reviews – The Q Division
Gavin has been a professional editor working in TV, Film, and internet for over a decade and a half (Marvel, Joe Pera Talks With You, Yahoo) and has worked on and hosted several podcasts since 2011 (Tribeca Film Institute, Midtown Comics). He's a film lover, music lover, and all around lover lover. He's very passionate about comic books but also thinks Scorsese is right. He has lived in New York City for the last 16 years.
Katie (they/them)
Show: Novel Gaming
Katie plays lots of video games and reads lots of books, which is perfect for the Novel Gaming pod and YouTube channel. They spend the rest of their free time walking through woods and petting any interested cats. Glitterjaw is their favorite podcast collective on the Citadel.
Louie Grendon (he/him)
Show: The Mixed Reviews
Luis (you can call him Louie) is in a gay marching band and his favorite movies include Bring it On, Saved! and West Side Story. Unlike his Mixed Reviews co-host Gavin, he's not a spooky bitch, but is definitely a good time gal.
Merrilee O'Neil (she/they)
Show: Fear Coded: A Queer Horror Podcast
Merrilee is an enthusiasm enthusiast, and absolutely loves discussing media in any form. They're thrilled for the opportunity to discuss horror movies from a queer lens regularly with two of the smartest people she knows. When not trying to catch up on the (truly impressive) backlog of podcasts she listens to Merrilee loves to crochet, play TTRPGs, and playing with their two cats, Cowboy and Pirate.
Tommy Proffitt (he/they)
Shows: Distant Echoes – Lee Carvallo’s Podding Challenge
Tommy says: “Cass and I talk a *LOT* about the nerdy stuff we love. Whether it's who we romanced in the latest sprawling RPG or why a scene from a particular TV episode reminds us of Dante's Inferno, we have always loved having deep (but mostly silly) discussions about the stuff we're into. And so, we created Distant Echoes where we could be as deep and as goofy as we'd like as we watch and rewatch some of our favorite episodes of Star Wars TV. Ultimately, our goal when we set out was always to just do something we enjoyed, be a couple of sillies, and create something positive together. So far I feel like we've accomplished that with each episode! Plus, we get to share our thoughts and learn new things about a fandom we both grew up loving.”
Tyler Watson (he/they)
Show: Fear Coded: A Queer Horror Podcast
Tyler is a full time technical writer with a master’s degree in English literature. He’s thrilled to talk about queer stuff in horror media with a bunch of other queer people on a network run by queer people. When he’s not busy talking about how everything is queer, he’s also spreading the good word of indie tabletop RPGs, looking at ducks with his partner, and having feelings about video games.
